App comparisons

Each comparison publishes its scoring model before the verdict: a set of weighted categories whose weights add up to 100, and a score for every app in each category. The final total comes from those two tables, so you can work it out yourself if you would like to check. The scores are editorial judgements based on documented feature sets, pricing structure, version history, and public user feedback, rather than laboratory measurements.

It is a fair question, so here is how we try to keep it honest. Listonic is our own app. Each comparison publishes the weights and the category scores its verdict was decided on, and our publishing system will not build the page if the declared winner is not the app with the highest weighted total. Listonic also carries no star rating or review markup in this section's structured data, so we do not pass a search engine a rating we gave ourselves. The tables are there for you to add up.

Each comparison ends with a numbered source appendix, and the supported claims in the text carry a marker linking to the entry behind them. The sources are official product pages and help centres, App Store and Google Play listings, and public user reviews. Where we could not trace something to a source like that, we prefer to leave it out.

Store ratings, review counts, and download figures are dated. Each comparison shows when those numbers were last checked, because they change often and the date is what tells you how fresh a figure is. If the exact number matters to your decision, the store listing is worth a look — it may have moved since.

Each comparison names its author and, separately, the person who reviewed it, both with a public professional profile linked from the article. Reviewing is a separate step from writing, done by someone other than the author, and it involves checking the claims against the sources they cite before publication.
