As the coronavirus outbreak spreads, we encourage you to stay home and look after each other. But we also realize you will likely need to go grocery shopping. For this reason, we have put together some tips on how to shop safely during the pandemic.

1. Shop less frequently and avoid rush hours

Since the virus can be transmitted simply by being near infected people, rush hours should be avoided completely. Shop early in the morning or late at night. Check if your local stores have changed their opening hours.

2. Make a grocery list before shopping

The less time you spend outside your home, the better. With a shopping list, you won’t waste time wandering around the store and you won’t forget anything.

3. Take care of your loved ones

Coronavirus poses the greatest threat to the elderly and sick. We encourage you to relieve them of grocery shopping. This little favor significantly minimizes the risk of their exposure to the virus.

Don’t forget about the live share function, which facilitates the exchange of information about the products on the lists.

4. Wash your hands before and after shopping

The virus can remain on surfaces for extended periods of time, so wash your hands before and after shopping to protect you and others from the spread of the virus.

5. Don’t buy more than you need

It is recommended that you buy supplies for up to two weeks. Check your pantry and plan your meals – there is no need to stock up on products you won’t eat anyway.

6. Use a debit/credit card instead of cash

Cash is a great habitat for the coronavirus since money passes from hand to hand. For additional safety, choose a contactless payment when paying at the cashier’s desk.

Summing up: plan your visit ahead, take care of your hygiene and think of the people who may need your help.

Stay safe!
