  • You’re not making a groceries list
  • You want more control over how your shopping list is displayed
  • You’re adding an unusual or very specific item

Therefore, in order to help you create shopping lists as unique as you are, you have the option of creating your own custom categories and items. This means you can take your list beyond just “bread” and “frozen food”, and to the very limits of your ingenuity.

So, you need a custom category. You must be making a really interesting list: something that you might not be taking to the grocery store.

Let’s learn how to make one:

  1. In your shopping list, select the icon to the right of the item (make sure “show prices” is turned off so you can see these)
  2. You will now see a list of categories
  3. Select the “+” icon
  4. Create your custom category by giving it a name
  5. If you want, select one of the hundreds of icons to represent your category

? TIP

You don’t have to select an icon to create a custom category. If you don’t select an icon, the symbol for your category will be a colored circle with either the first letter of the name of your category or the number at the beginning of the category name.

You’ve done it! You’ve created a custom category. To assign an item to this gorgeous new category, when changing an item’s category, you’ll find your handiwork in the “Your Categories” tab.
